BHA has produced a proposal for a substantial extension to the Arbor City Hotel in Osborn Street E1 for the Arbor Group – which project includes a residential wing facing Old Montague Street.  This part of the scheme required the design of an infill building that has to reconcile the different scales of the buildings either side in the streetscape; a modern flatted block to the left and a terrace of late C19th shops to the right.  Win response we produced a stepped profile infill building whose façade treatment expresses the interior function using familiar elements and appropriate material palette.
